Song Of The Week - The Buzzcocks

I am currently driving about 4 hours a day to and from work which allows lots of time for digging in the crates (aka the messy pile of CDs in my living room) for neglected or forgotten tunes so I thought I'd try and stick up at least one tune that made me go "ah yeah that!" or "wow! what is that?" during the course of week. This week is "Why Can't I Touch It?" by The Buzzcocks. It's a late period Buzzcocks tune and not typical of them in that it's a slow with a dubby bassline rather than three chords punk pop but it's rocking none the less. It's also one of those rare songs that has a "special personal meaning" but we won't go into that here. It's a killer jam:

The Killing Spree

On of my favourite ever bands The Killing Spree is reforming for a one off show for a great cause next month. Check out the deets here:

TKS only released on 7" on Rimbaud Records but the lads went on to form Gaju / Not Squares and a variety of other musical and non-musical endevours.

Obits

I recently got a hold of "I Blame You" the debut album from Obits who feature Rick Froberg formerly of Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes and it's rather fine. There's a free download of "Pine On" from the album over at the Sub Pop here:

and you can check out the band on myspace:

You're crazy for this one Rick!
